Last Thursday, I held a launch party for my business - not a product party but a true launch party in the spirit of a restaurant opening. Why not?! I have a lot to celebrate and did it in style with Pimms, great company and a brief talk about why I have chosen this path to becoming a millionaire over any other. It was the best way to get the people I care most about to understand what this business is all about and how they can support me while helping themselves and their friends live a more healthy and/or wealthy life.

It wasn't easy putting that party together but it was simple and that's the way everything works in this business. It's not easy getting to your first cool million but it's simple...so simple in fact that anyone can do it. But what I love most about my particular business and the team I have jumped into with both feet is that it is packed with professionals - smart people who have recognised the opportunity as a multi-million dollar BUSINESS and set out to find their 'board of directors', ie: 5 other smart professionals who recognise the opportunity as a multi-million dollar business and set out to find their board of directors... and so the business grows. The more professionals get involved in network marketing and declare themselves to be global ambassadors of the industry, the less scepticism there is in the marketplace and the more people want a piece of the ever-increasing pie. So what is network marketing?

Well, it is not pyramid selling which is illegal and is quickly shut down. Neither is it a get-rich-quick scheme although many people DO get rich and some quicker than they could possible imagine. Network marketing is simply a distribution method that cuts out the middle men and uses the power of viral marketing (ie: you sharing your excitement about something with somebody else) to distribute legitimate goods in the marketplace. All the margins that would normally go to the distributor, warehouser and retailer go to YOU and that is how you make money. Simple.

Network marketing is the only home-based business for entrepreneurs that has literally no risk. ANYONE can get involved for a small start-up fee, a few products and some sales tools (although the last two are optional). Unlike many home-based businesses which limit your income to the amount of hours you can squeeze into a day, there is literally no ceiling on the income you can earn as a network marketer; each time you add a new business builder to your team, you multiply your working hours as you receive income from their efforts too. When they do the same, you receive income from their business builders so your earnings just keep on growing. Stick with one network marketing company for as little as four years and you can create an income stream from the honest movement of products that will sustain you for life... and even beyond as, unlike most income streams including pensions, your network marketing business is fully inheritable.

Most importantly, network marketing is for everyone and anyone can become successful regardless of their skill set. If you doubt that you can do it, ask a network marketer to invite you along to an opportunity meeting... you will be amazed at the diversity of people who have literally transformed their lives and will leave thinking "Well, if he/she can do it, I certainly can!" You DO NOT need sales experience - all of us are selling from the day we are born - but you DO need tenacity, commitment, resilience, belief that you can earn 10 times what you have ever earned before and the ability to have fun because, if you are not enjoying your network marketing business, you aren't doing it right.

To become a network marketer is to open the door to a life you never thought you could possibly live and, if you don't give up, you will become so grateful one day that somebody chose to give you this gift and invited you to share it.

The first pay cheque

Right, let's get one thing straight. I am not a network marketing millionaire...YET. In fact, I just got my first month's pay cheque and it was for £40.22! Might not sound a lot but you have to start somewhere and the buzz of getting a cheque in the post for doing something that doesn't feel like work is hugely motivating. It is also significant because it marks the start of my journey to six zeros - one that I know will have many twists and turns and more than a few signs urging me to turn back but one I simply can't do on my own, so pack your bags and come along for the ride!
